AHA Emergency Cardiac Care (ECC) Courses

Heartsaver CPR/AED, BLS, NRP, ACLS, PALS, PEARS Class Schedule
(All classes are held in the Education Department Classroom unless stated otherwise.)

Currently, the AHA Training Center Program Admimnistration Manual mandates the following requirements for renewal of Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. 

 
         *  Current BLS Certification           * NO Current BLS Certification

Complete the Online Heartcode BLS course.
OR the Accelerated BLS certification renewal course.

AND
Complete BLS In-Person Skills Session

Complete  Online Heartcode BLS course.

AND
Complete BLS In-Person Skills Session

 All clinical staff have the following options for obtaining initial or renewing certification for ACLS/PALS:

 

 

       Current ACLS/PALS Certification  NO Current ACLS/PALS or Initial Certification

Complete Online Heartcode ACLS/PALS Course
AND a ACLS/PALS In-Person Skills Session

OR
Take the 1-Day ACLS/PALS Certification Renewal Course (Skills Session included)

Complete Online Heartcode ACLS/PALS Course
AND a ACLS/PALS In-Person Skills Session

OR
Take the 2-Day ACLS/PALS Intial Certification Course (Skills Session included)

* NCH Clinical Staff who maintain current ACLS and PALS certification are NOT required to maintain BLS certification.  BOTH certifications must be current.

Online Heartcode BLS/ACLS/PALS courses are assigned to NCH staff through Healthstream by the Education Department without charge.  Non-employees can access these courses through the American Heart Association online education site OnlineAHA.org .  The following fees apply to non-Employees for all AHA Instructor-led Skills Evaluation Sessions and classes:

The North Country Healthcare Training Center is an authorized American Heart Association (AHA) Training Center. Participants in all courses offered through the NCH Training Center receive a two year certification for the specific discipline (BLS, ACLS, PALS, etc.).

Scheduled 1-day PEARS Certification Class - Pediatric Advanced Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS)® is updated to reflect the 2010 AHA Guidelines for CPR and ECC, PEARS helps healthcare providers develop the knowledge and skills needed for emergency evaluation and treatment of seriously ill infants and children.

Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification Information

To register for the NRP Certification course contact the Education Department at this hyperlink.

Employees who are registered for NRP certification will have the exam assigned to their Healthstream account.   *** NRP certification requires completion of the online NRP test within 90 days prior to registering for an Instructor-led Skills Evaluation class.  

Instructor-led NRP Skills Evaluation Sessions:

LRH: NRP Instructor-led Skills Evaluation classes are conducted on the LRH OB Unit on a quarterly basis.  To register for a class with a certified NRP instructor by contacting Tammy Ladd . Be sure to enter the date you plan to complete the online portion of the course in the body of the message.

AVH: NRP Instructor-led Skills Evaluation classes are conducted onAndroscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin, NH twice a year. To enroll in oneof these classes go to the Northwoods Center for Continuing Education Website .  

To register for a private Instructor-led NRP Skills Evaluation class with a certified NRP instructor, email the Education Department .  Be sure to enter the date you plan to complete the online portion of the course in the body of the message.

Non-employees who need NRP certification can access the course and the textbook of Neonatal Resusitation, 7th Edition for a fee through the Education Department using the hyperlink above.  Non-employees can access the online exam and course materials directly through the American Academy of Pediatrics NRP Website
