Littleton Regional Healthcare Auxiliary Cooks Up Second Helpings

October 31, 2017

By Eileen Regen

Members of the Littleton Regional Healthcare Auxiliary invite North Country guests to enjoy the Cookbook Café Tasting Party to preview "Second Helpings," the newest area cookbook, from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, November 7 in the H. Taylor Caswell, Jr. Conference Center of the Littleton Regional Healthcare. "Second Helpings" presents over 300 new recipes collected from around the corner and around the world to tempt even the pickiest eaters.

Eager tasters check out the main dish table at the 2006 Cookbook Tasting Party.

Tasting tables laden with over 40 tempting dishes will represent all menu categories. Just a few of the foods to enjoy are Elaine Marshall's Portuguese Soup, Donna Wright's Sausage Squares, Kathy Lewis' Broccoli Casserole, Maggie Starr's Ham & Apple Tart, Linda Mordhorst's Farmer's Casserole, Candy Black's Grandma's Smoochies, and Nancy Hadfield's Lemon Graham Squares.

Proceeds of the book sales support many hospital activities: the Care-A-Van, scholarships, Reach Out and Read, wheelchairs, the Sauter Birthing Unit, and the annual North Country Women's Health Conference.

In response to the many requests for another cookbook plus more copies of the popular first edition published in 2006, Chair Nancy MacNeil gathered committee members Anita Craven, Barbara Langworthy, Deb McKenzie, Cathy Parker, and Eileen Regen to prepare "Second Helpings."

"I like this second edition. It will attract people because it is filled with friendly and appealing recipes," said MacNeil. The LRHA forest green and cream hardcover cookbooks are 7"x 9 ¼" three-ring binders with colorful section dividers and cooking hints throughout the book. An alphabetical index is added for the cook's convenience. At only $15 per copy, this cookbook is a wonderful gift choice and a fine addition to every kitchen.

A limited number of copies of the 2006 edition will be available for purchase at the tasting party. This event is free and open to the public.
