Even with much progress in healthcare, men still face a broad range of health issues unique to men. In the United States, men live about five years less than women. Men visit their doctor less often than women. Heart disease is the leading cause of death in men. One out of three men suffers from conditions tied to heart disease. Men have higher rates of death from cancer and diabetes too.
Men's Health Month is a reminder for men and boys to take some time to learn about their health risk factors. Ignoring risk factors and symptoms also has consequences for loved ones. LRH encourages men to visit their doctor once a year to deal with minor health issues before they become more serious.
As one way to address men's health matters, LRH will host its annual prostate cancer screening on Wednesday September 19, 2018. For more information or to schedule your screening, please call (603) 444-0385.
