LRH Hosts Health Careers Institute at Dartmouth Students
August 6, 2018
Littleton Regional Healthcare is hosting three groups of students from the Health Careers Institute at Dartmouth this summer. This Institute provides students from New Hampshire and beyond entering grades 10, 11, and 12 with opportunities to explore health careers. This year, program developers incorporated a rural day at LRH into the week-long curriculum. The students learned about all aspects of pharmacy services. They toured the clinical laboratory. They gained a perspective on rural population health. The students also heard about the risks in search and rescue in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, and how first responders involved in rescues interface with hospitals. LRH pointed out the different challenges in health care between rural vs. resource-rich areas.
