Littleton, NH - Littleton Regional Healthcare congratulates staff Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), Jared Vandenbroek, on his recent graduation from Missouri State University which earned him his Doctorate of Nurse Anesthesia Practice. This is one of the two highest degrees in the field of nurse anesthesia. One of the requirements for this degree is the completion of a capstone project that focuses on utilization of research findings to augment evidence-based nurse anesthesia clinical practice, nurse anesthesia education or business management related to nurse anesthesia.
As part of his studies, Jared completed a capstone project entitled Checklists for Anesthetic Emergencies in the Operating Room. "While completing my class on patient safety, I learned about recent research done in the field of medicine that shows the benefits of using all types of checklists in various areas of healthcare. I became interested in learning more about anesthesia-specific checklists. As I continued my research, I discovered some checklists that would be quite useful for any anesthesia department. Realizing the benefits these checklists could have on patient safety, I brought my findings to LRH, which I believe will help contribute to the excellent care we already provide for the patients at our facility," explained Jared.
Jared has been with LRH since 2013 serving as one of the CRNAs who care for patients during surgical procedures that require any type of anesthesia. The Missouri State University School of Anesthesia is fully accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, the official accrediting agency for nurse anesthetists.
Katherine LeHoskey, RN, BSN, CNOR and Director of Surgical Services at LRH states, "Jared has worked extremely hard to accomplish this goal. LRH and the patients we serve are fortunate to have an outstanding team of CRNAs providing care for them before, during, and following surgery. We are all very proud of Jared."
