LRH & LRH Auxiliary Recognize Doctors at LRH on Doctor's Day

March 19, 2020

Littleton, NH - In recognition of National Doctors' Day on March 30, physicians at Littleton Regional Healthcare will be recognized for their outstanding skills, compassion and service to patients and families at LRH. "This year, more than ever we want to recognize our outstanding team of doctors who lead us through the most difficult of times and situations - mainly in the background where many of us cannot see all they do. This year is no exception as we work through the health emergency we are all facing related to COVID-19. Please join us in thanking our doctors today for their unwavering commitment to their healthcare career," stated Robert Nutter, CEO & President at LRH. The LRH Auxiliary hosts an annual breakfast for the LRH providers, however, this year the celebration has been postponed due to the health emergency we are facing - COVID-19. The LRH Auxiliary will make up for this at a later date.

National Doctors' Day is held every year on March 30 in the United States to celebrate the contributions of physicians. Although President George Bush officially signed Doctors' Day into U.S. law on October 30, 1990, the first observance was March 30, 1933 in Winder, Georgia. The holiday was conceived by Eudora Brown Almond, wife of Dr. Charles B. Almond, who decided to set aside a day to honor physicians like her husband. March 30 was chosen because it is the anniversary of the day that general anesthesia was first used in surgery by Dr. Crawford W. Long in 1842.
