Volunteers at Littleton Regional Healthcare Taking Steps to Good Health Thanks to Passumpsic Bank
August 23, 2021
Littleton, NH - Littleton Regional Healthcare's (LRH) Volunteer Program restarted in April after over a year hiatus due to COVID-19. The volunteers were eager to return to LRH and resume their duties around the hospital and physician practices. As the program continues to grow, the current 100 senior volunteers enjoy participating in activities and challenges organized by volunteer services program director, Gail Clark.
"It's important to keep our volunteers engaged. We do a weekly newsletter amongst our volunteers to share health and wellness information, recipes, and they can submit news of their own to share with the group," noted Clark. The latest initiative is a healthy walking challenge which was made possible by a generous in-kind donation of pedometers by Passumpsic Bank. Volunteers are tracking and logging their steps both during their shifts at LRH and while at home. At the end of each month, the log sheets will be collected and prizes will be awarded.
Allison Jackson, AVP, A.T., Branch Manager of Passumpsic Bank in Littleton delivered the pedometers to LRH in early August and met some of the LRH volunteers who would be participating in the challenge. "We love opportunities like this," said Jackson. "Passumpsic Bank will happily be part of programs that promote good health and allow us to partner with other community businesses. We were glad LRH reached out requesting our help."
The healthy walking challenge is just one of the fun programs the LRH volunteers participate in. LRH is actively recruiting individuals who may be interested in volunteering one or two 3-hours shifts per week.
