Littleton Regional Healthcare Announces Appointment of Chief Medical Officer

Littleton Regional Healthcare (LRH) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Richard McKenzie as Chief Medical Officer (CMO). Dr. McKenzie has been serving as Interim CMO for LRH since late May of last year.

Dr. McKenzie brings a diverse and impressive background to his new role. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Dartmouth College, followed by a Bachelor of Engineering

 with a focus in Biomedical and Electrical Engineering from the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth. He also holds an MBA in Marketing and Finance from Golden Gate University. After nearly a decade in the manufacturing industry, Dr. McKenzie transitioned to medicine, earning his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2006. Before joining LRH, he served as Section Chief of Family Medicine at Elliot Health System.

Since joining the LRH Medical Staff in 2014, Dr. McKenzie has served as a physician in North Country Primary Care, LRH’s designated Rural Health Clinic. He has also held several leadership roles, including Medical Director for LRH’s Rural Health Clinic, Accountable Care Organization, and two Urgent Cares, and served as President of the LRH Medical Staff and as a member of the Board of Trustees.

In his role as Chief Medical Officer, Dr. McKenzie will continue to assist with integration planning for LRH’s proposed affiliation with Dartmouth Health. He will also have overall responsibility for clinical leadership and Medical Staff engagement, as well as for the continuous development and monitoring of quality, patient safety, and performance improvement initiatives. In addition to his expanded leadership role, he will continue to see patients and practice family medicine on a part-time basis.

He is also well-respected amongst his peers and well-known in the community,” noted Robert Nutter, President and Chief Executive Officer of LRH. “I am confident that he will continue to advance clinical excellence and physician leadership at LRH,” added Nutter.
