Find an LRH Cause Close to Your Heart

Giving to Littleton Regional Healthcare’s “Area of Greatest Need” empowers LRH to address urgent healthcare challenges in the North Country. Whether it be purchasing vital medical equipment, enhancing patient care services, or community health initiatives, your donation will help ensure that LRH can respond quickly to the evolving needs of patients. With your generosity, LRH can improve the quality of care offered and maintain essential and accessible healthcare services that benefit the communities that we serve.

The Starfish Fund

In 2021, the Starfish Fund, a permanent endowment fund at Littleton Regional Healthcare, was established by a generous gift from Carol Anne Gillis. Carol Anne was a pillar of the community, local educator, and long-term supporter of LRH. From her childhood in Canada, Carol Anne was legally blind, causing her teaching career to come to a premature end. This led Carol to transition into private personal counseling, bereavement support groups, and group counselling of breast cancer patients and survivors, which she herself would eventually become. After hearing and learning about others that are in stressful situations, Carol Anne helped establish the Starfish Fund at LRH to help uninsured or underinsured patients pay their medical bills. The principle of The Starfish Fund will remain untouched, with the only investment income being used for the fund annually. Carol Anne Gillis unfortunately passed away in 2024, and a donation to this fund would preserve her contributions to LRH by providing funds to assist patients at LRH being treated for breast cancer at the LRH Oncology, Hematology, and Infusion Center, who also need financial assistance.

The Century Fund

The Century Fund is a permanent endowment fund that was established in 2007 in recognition of Littleton Regional Healthcare’s centennial celebration. The fund is Board Designated and was established to support the long-term needs of LRH. Giving to The Century Fund allows you to become a permanent part of the Hospital’s history.

Paul J. McGoldrick and Family Endowment Fund

Paul McGoldrick previously served on the Littleton Regional Hospital Charitable Foundation board, and was also a trustee for the hospital for nine years, of which he was president for four years. He also served as the chairman for the Hospital Fund Drive in the 1970s, helping raise more than $500,000 for an expansion to the former hospital located at Cottage Street. Paul’s late wife, Linda McGoldrick, battled cancer for three years before her premature death in 1992. Mr. McGoldrick helped establish the Paul J. McGoldrick and Family Endowment Fund to support the LRH Cancer Treatment Department so that they can continue to grow and provide quality service to the North Country.

Dr. H. Taylor Caswell Endowment Fund

The Dr. H. Taylor Caswell Endowment Fund was established by a large contribution in memory of Dr. H. Taylor Caswell, an Orthopedic Surgeon who resided in Littleton, NH. Dr. Taylor Caswell was a member of the LRH community for many years, was a member of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons, as well as a veteran of the military at a Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, NH. The Dr. H. Taylor Caswell Endowment Fund is a permanent endowment fund with the purpose of improving the welfare of children in the North and to provide interest income to improve the patient experience in the LRH Rehabilitation Services Department.

Mary E. Mooney Heald Fund & Frances Heald Revocable Trust

The Mary E. Mooney Heald Fund was started by a large contribution in memory of Mary. E. Mooney Heald, one of the original incorporators of Littleton Hospital. The principal balance of the fund will remain untouched and only net income shall be used and expended to support the maintenance, development, and sustainability of the Littleton Regional Healthcare Volunteer Program.

Making a tribute gift is a meaningful way to honor special people, remember a milestone, or celebrate someone’s life. Through a donation to Littleton Regional Healthcare, you can extend love, admiration, or sympathy to friends and family throughout the year. Tribute gifts can be made to acknowledge a physician, nurse, or other caregivers for providing exceptional care to you or a family member. The Foundation office acknowledges all contributions with a letter and promptly notifies the family of the deceased or the person being honored that thoughtful tributes were received (a gift amount is not revealed). Tributes may be made by sending a gift to the Foundation or by using our secure online donation form.

Founded in December 1997, The Helping Hands Committee was formed due to a perceived need for assistance for employees experiencing severe financial difficulty because of a catastrophic personal crisis. The goal is to provide a monetary or other supportive donation to help ease the burden on the employee. Helping Hands does not attempt to solve or eliminate the financial crisis but instead focuses on extending a means of assistance during the crisis period. Following the passing of Ruth “Rosie” LaRose, a founding member and key advocate, Littleton Regional Healthcare assumed management of the fund. All proceeds from fundraising efforts solely support employees in need. Involvement by LRH staff members in Helping Hands and its fundraising projects is voluntary, and many members of our hospital family have given in many ways to help support the committee and its mission of helping others. Give today to support an employee in need.

A gift to Littleton Regional Healthcare’s Education and Scholarships fund will directly support LRH staff that are pursuing advanced certifications or degrees within the healthcare industry. Even a small donation to this fund will enhance the quality of care provided to our patients and is a vital investment in the future of healthcare in the North Country. Thank you for helping us create a healthier community in the North Country by ensuring that we have compassionate and skilled professionals ready to meet the needs of our patients.

The staff at Littleton Regional Healthcare recognizes that labor and the birth of a child are exciting, life-changing events. The Birth and Parenting fund supports a number of different functions within LRH, including birth and parenting programs, the Sauter Birthing Suite, surgeries, essential equipment, and many other important resources that ensure families receive the highest quality care and support during this transformative time.

Become a Member of the LRH Legacy Society Today!
One of the simplest ways to make a planned gift is through a bequest or a testamentary will. Wills are considered “revocable” because you can change your mind and amend your plans for your estate. Wills are made to leave money, personal property such as your home or jewelry, and your accounts to the recipients you select. Give something to your family and also give to your church, your college, and places like Littleton Regional Healthcare (LRH), to show your appreciation for services over the years. Your bequest can help strengthen our community for many years to come. Please click here for more information.

Donations of Stock

Donations of appreciated securities (stock that you purchased at least one year ago that has gone up in value) are a win-win for the donor and Littleton Regional Healthcare. Not only do you receive the charitable deduction for the current value of the stock on your tax return, but you also avoid paying capital gains on the increased value. Publicly traded stock can be transferable quickly and conveniently from any U.S. investment firm. Please call the Foundation at 603-444-9304 for transfer instructions.

Current Needs

Our community needs us to be here with primary care that keeps us well, emergency care when accidents happen, and specialized care when illness strikes our family. Our doors are never closed – our arms are open when you need us. With your help, we can continue to be the North Country’s center of excellence for you, your family, and your neighbor’s medical needs. That’s the kind of community in which we all want to live.

Your gift to our annual fund will help support the purchase of state-of-the-art medical equipment, such as three-dimensional mammography equipment and furniture for our patients and visitors in the Oncology / Hematology Department. The Littleton Regional Healthcare also purchases supplies needed by patients to promote wellness and safety, such as infant car seats, bicycle helmets for children, and bariatric scales for cardiac patients to monitor weight at home.

Most people donate to LRH because they have had an experience for which they are grateful – they appreciate the care, the skill, and the expertise provided to a loved one. Grandparents are thrilled with the special care given in the Birthing Suite. Adult children appreciate the compassion and guidance offered during care of an elderly parent. Relief comes when a family vacation is interrupted by a visit to the Emergency Department where knowledgeable and caring providers proficiently attend to a broken leg. A strong medical center helps make our community strong, and that is why we are asking for your support.

Please join us in becoming a member of the LRH family by making a contribution to the Littleton Regional Healthcare today. Every single gift makes a difference in the life of someone getting care here. If you are over 70-1/2, consider making your gift directly from your IRA, avoiding capital gains taxes. Let us know if you have considered naming Littleton Regional Healthcare in your will. Thank you for making Northern New Hampshire a better place to live and raise a family!
