Oncology/Hematology refers to the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of cancer and blood diseases. Hematology includes such conditions as anemia, leukemia, and lymphoma. The Medical Oncologist evaluates patients with cancer of all the body’s organ systems such as the breast, lung, colon, prostate, and others. The Medical Oncologist also acts as the provider or coordinator of different treatments, such as chemotherapy, biotherapy, targeted therapy, radiation or surgery.
