LITTLETON, NH – Littleton Regional Healthcare is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Daniel Underbakke as a General Surgeon of Surgical Associates at LRH.
Dr. Underbakke graduated with his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Wisconsin in 2009 followed by his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in 2014. Dr. Underbakke served as a Specialist in the United States Army 1st Battalion 87th Infantry 10th Mountain Division from 2000 to 2004. He served in combat in Afghanistan in Operation Freedom I and IV.
While attaining his undergraduate degree, Dr. Underbakke began his career in healthcare working as a Health Technician at William S. Middleto
n Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin. His experience also includes working at the Bruce M. Christensen Lab of Pathobiological Sciences as a Research Assistant/Microbiologist and as a Nursing Assistant in the Cardiac and Thoracic Step-Down Unit at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin. Most recently, Dr. Underbakke served as the Surgeon on Duty at the White River Junction VA Medical Center in Vermont.
Dr. Underbakke fulfilled his General Surgery Internship followed by his Research Fellowship at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC). He holds several professional licenses and certifications including his New Hampshire Medical License and is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Advanced Trauma Life Support. He is also a Resident Member of the American College of Surgeons through his General Surgery Residency with DHMC.
When he is not working, Dr. Underbakke enjoys spending time with his wife, Heidi, and their two dogs. Together, their hobbies include home renovations, cooking, and entertaining their friends and family.
