The week of May 6th was National Nurse’s Week. In honor of that, Littleton Regional Healthcare recognized its nurses and gave out four awards.
LRH’s Nursing Excellence Award was first presented in 2013 and has since been awarded annually to a nurse who best embodies the traits of compassion and nursing care excellence. This year’s Nursing Excellence Award was presented to Tori Fouch, RN. Nursing is so much more than a profession for Tori. She treats every patient as if they were family and her commitment to providing only the highest quality of care is unparalleled. Her colleagues will tell you that Tori’s passion for nursing and her patients radiates when you are in her presence. Tori is always eager to learn. She has recently spent time learning more of the Case Management responsibilities to have a broader perspective of resources and support available to patients.
The Above and Beyond Award was established in 2020 and has since been awarded each year during National Nurses Week. Tracy Fillion, RN was an obvious choice as one of this year’s recipients. This past year, Tracy has taken on more through leadership changes in our Surgical Services Department. She was a constant and calming presence to her colleagues and stepped up, assuming increased responsibility to ensure that the operating rooms ran smoothly, staff had what they needed, and patient care was not impacted. Tracy was instrumental in coordinating schedules, developing coverage plans, securing interim support, and looking out for her colleagues. Being as humble as she is, Tracy would never expect recognition for everything she has done. Instead, she would probably tell you that she is just doing what needs to be done.
The LRH Nursing Mentorship Award is presented annually to a nurse that demonstrates an extraordinary level of commitment to supporting the development of others.
Orientation for the operating room is a complex and lengthy process that requires attention to detail. Michael Stone, RN of our Surgical Services Department has a passion for education and works to ensure new hires are supported throughout the onboarding process and beyond. New staff members are in great hands with Michael, and his compassionate, caring nature creates a positive learning environment. He embodies exactly what this Award is all about. Congratulations, Michael!
Established in 2020, the Above and Beyond Award is presented annually during Nurses Week to a nurse who goes above and beyond for their patients, their colleagues, and their community. Keri Brown, RN has done exactly that. Keri has been an instrumental part of our electronic health records system conversion, flexing her time to help train other staff members and assist in the transition between systems. Her clinical background, combined with her interest in information technology, made her the perfect person to help guide others through this process. Keri always has a positive attitude and never hesitates to jump in and help. Her eagerness to tackle workflow challenges and can-do approach have been immensely helpful to many throughout the implementation.
