The Smith Family Fund is an established charitable fund of Littleton Regional Healthcare in memory of the Honorable Peter W. Smith and his loving wife, Betty (Buffi) Smith.
Peter was an amazing Husband, Father, Brother, Grandfather, Friend, and New Hampshire Superior Court Justice. He also served on our Board of Trustees as a Trustee and Chairman. He enjoyed jazz, thunderstorms, and the peace of his favorite fishing spots. Buffi was an amazing Wife, Mother, Sister, Gigi, Friend, Nurse, Chef, Dog Mom, and Gardener. She enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking gourmet meals, caring for her plants, and enjoying her view of Mt. Washington from her kitchen table.
Peter and Buffi’s daughter, Leslie, is the Clinical Supervisor in our Oncology & Infusion Center and represents the family for the annual Make Yourself Proud Award selection. The Make Yourself Proud Award was created to express a special and heartfelt “thank you” for all that nurses do – caring for patients, their families, and co-workers. The Award is presented every year and funded by the Smith Family Fund.
The names of all Registered Nurses and Licensed Nursing Assistants currently working in LRH’s Intensive Care and Medical-Surgical Units are placed in a basket and one name is drawn at random. The selected individual receives a $250 gift with the hope they will do something wonderful for themselves. The 2024 Make Yourself Proud recipient is Mary Ellen Fairfield, RN (pictured).
