LRH Finds Innovative Solution to Address Pharmacy Void in Linwood Area

With the expected upcoming pharmacy closures, Littleton Regional Healthcare (LRH) was concerned about what this would mean for local residents and visitors needing to access their prescription medications. The out-of-the-box pharmacological solution is, in fact, a box — a secure, prescription locker, to be exact.

In 2023, LRH installed a secure prescription locker, enabling its retail pharmacy, North Country Pharmacy, to serve patients beyond its usual hours of operation. This unit was the first of its kind in the state. With a simple call to the pharmacy staff, patients can use the alternative pick-up mechanism at their convenience. Now, with the pending closure of the Lincoln local Rite Aid location, LRH has taken swift action to ensure that residents of the Lincoln and Woodstock communities, as well as the many visitors to the area, are not left without their medications. In the coming weeks, LRH will install a second prescription locker as an extension of its retail pharmacy. The new unit will be located within the lobby of LRH’s Lincoln Urgent Care at 33 Railroad Street in Lincoln.

For those who reside above Franconia Notch, the Littleton Rite Aid is also slated to close in early August. LRH’s on-site North Country Pharmacy is prepared to assist those needing prescription medications and other pharmacy services. It is open Monday through Friday, 8 am until 6 pm, and on Saturdays from 9 am until 2 pm.

Anyone in need of pharmacy services can contact North Country Pharmacy by calling (603) 444-9024. The pharmacy offers a full range of services, including the two secure pick-up lockers, pet medications, over-the-counter medical supplies, personalized pill pack programs, and mail-order services. LRH’s Lincoln Urgent Care will also expand the medications available for those seeking urgent care services.

“Taking medication as prescribed and following the regimen recommended by your healthcare provider is a critical component of managing chronic health conditions, treating acute illnesses and infections, and maintaining good health,” noted LRH President and Chief Executive Officer, Robert Nutter. “Access is fundamental to our mission, so when we can step in to help fill a void, we do. Our hope is that this solution provides some relief to the Linwood area, so they do not have to travel unnecessarily for needed prescription medications,” added Nutter.

More details will be available soon as LRH operationalizes the unit. LRH will communicate how to utilize the Lincoln prescription locker as it finalizes the workflow of this new initiative. In the meantime, all of LRH’s other existing programs at North Country Pharmacy are available.
