Littleton Regional Healthcare (LRH) has been recognized by Becker’s Hospital Review, a national healthcare-specific media outlet, as the only hospital in New Hampshire to earn a five-star rating in both nurse and physician communication. 183 hospitals across the country made the list, and only one in New Hampshire: Littleton Regional Healthcare (LRH).
The recognition is based on patient experience data collected through the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey, the nation’s standardized survey of hospital patients.
The physician communication rating combines publicly reported measures and summarizes how well patients feel their physician explained things, listened carefully, and treated them with courtesy and respect. The nurse communication rating is based on the same criteria, focusing on how patients feel about their interactions with nurses during their care.
In 2026, 208 hospitals achieved a five-star rating in physician communication, while a total of 567 hospitals received five stars in nursing communication.
Robert Nutter, President and Chief Executive Officer of LRH, noted, “Public quality information can sometimes be complicated and difficult to interpret. This recognition is especially meaningful because it signifies our patients’ own experiences. To be recognized as the only hospital in New Hampshire is an extraordinary honor and a testament to the trust our patients place in LRH for their care.”
“Those results reflect far more than individual conversations,” added Nutter. “They represent the culture of LRH and the way our entire workforce cares for patients and families during some of the most difficult and vulnerable moments of their lives. While the ratings specifically recognize nurses and physicians, achievements like this belong to our entire organization. Every member of our team contributes to creating an exceptional patient experience.”
Communication isn’t the only category in which LRH achieved high marks. These ratings follow a list published earlier this year of the 396 cleanest hospitals in the country – a list LRH was also ranked among the nation’s best. “We consistently hear from patients, visitors, and healthcare colleagues that our facility is exceptionally well cared for, clean, and welcoming. We take great pride in ensuring we maintain a safe and comfortable environment,” Nutter stated.
These recognitions underscore Littleton Regional Healthcare’s ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care close to home. As a nonprofit, community-focused hospital, LRH remains dedicated to listening to patients, strengthening relationships, and continuously improving the care experience.
